 Who We Are


Since the late 1970s Klondike Outreach has been successful in securing yearly funding, through Service Canada, previously known as HRSDC, to provide employment services to job seekers and support to employers. We are a non-profit organization supervised by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our mandate is to provide employment services to a rural community.

Because we are funded through Service Canada, there is a required statistical and financial reporting process. We track our day-to-day operations for job seekers and employers. With this information, we are able to evaluate and plan for future services under Service Canada funding guidelines.

Position Description
 Bartenders (2 locations)  full or part-time, seasonal, available ASAP
 Bus People  Seasonal, full or part-time.
 Call for Proposal  CLOSING DATE: July 25 @ 4 - Log Kitchen Building at R-22B
 Camp Helpers  Training provided. Must be physically fit, willing to travel to remote parts of the Yukon by helicopter.
 Cargo/Baggage Handler  To work at the airport. Full-time (6 days/wk, 5-8 hrs/day).
 Carpenters: Journeyman & Apprentice  required for a construction company
 Community Health Worker  Closing Date: July 25 @4. One year term position, full-time.
 Cooks/Line/Prep (5 locations)  full or part-time, various locations, 2 not located in Dawson City
 Custodian  On-Call, flexible hours, starts immediately.
 Custodian  REPOST. Permanent, part-time (20hrs/wk). Weekend & evening work required.
 Dishwashers (3 locations)  full-time or part-time, positions available ASAP, seasonal or permanent
 Door Security (3 locations)  Full or part-time. Seasonal or Year-round.
 Helper  Beginning immediately, ending September 25. Geophysical profiling, sampling, etc. Physical work, must stay in wilderness camp.
 Hostess  part-time, now to September for a local restaurant
 Housekeepers/Room Attendants (8 locations)  starting immediately ~ full & part-time, 1 not located in Dawson City
 Janitorial/Maintenance Person  Full-time, mechanical experience preferred (eg. minor freezer repair), company benefits & bonus.
 Lands & Resources Officer  Closing Date: July 25. Full-time. permanent. Starts August 4/08.
 Laundry Attendants  Full & part-time positions, available immediately.
 Loader Operator  needed ASAP until late September
 Mechanic  must have experience with hydraulic diesel dredges, full-time for summer season
 Mental Health Support Worker  CLOSING DATE: August 7, auxiliary on-call position
 Night Auditor  part-time, 2 night shifts, 1 day shift
 Relief/Assistant Camp Cook  2-3 days per week (Sat-Mon or Sun-Tues). Placer mine 1 hour drive from Dawson.
 Servers (6 locations)  Full & part-time, seasonal & year-round, restaurant & bars, 2 not located in Dawson City
 Skilled Labourer  required for a construction company
 Soil Samplers  All training will be provided. Must be physically fit, willing to work in remote areas, travel by helicopter.
 Stock Clerks  Full or part-time. Company benefits & bonus available.
 Toddler Teacher  Year-round position, must have experience with children, early childhood education an asset
 Trail Crew Supervisor  Term (July 21-mid September). Working along side 2-3 youth on a trail maintenance project. Apply immediately.
 Tutor/Teaching Assistant  CLOSING DATE: July 31 @ 4, one year term, half-time position beginning in mid-August

9:00 am to noon and 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Closed for statutory holidays.

 

 Services We Provide


Klondike Outreach provides many services related to employment and career development. We have a Job Board that advertises jobs available in the Dawson City area. You can also access information for jobs located throughout the Yukon and Canada.

Here are some of our services:

  1. advertise local jobs
  2. assist job seekers in preparation for employment (review resumes, cover letters and provide interview tips)
  3. provide and assist with computer/internet, fax, telephone and resource libraries
  4. act as a resource for employment-related programs
  5. provide a message service for job seekers
  6. provide a location to store client resumes

Registration is FREE, just drop by the office and complete the one-page form.

We are currently located at 853 Third Avenue next to the Territorial Agent.

Please note: Dawson is a small town. While there are a considerable number of summer jobs available, there are many qualified people who come to Dawson and are not successful in finding work.
